Taiwan’s Efforts toward the Millennium Development Goals
  In light of the unbalanced development in the international community brought on by globalization, the United Nations in 2000 established the Millennium Development Goals, which include eight goals and 18 targets, intending to narrow the gap between advanced and developing countries. As part of its efforts to help reach the Millennium Development Goals, in addition to promoting sustainable development, Taiwan assists developing nations in the areas of economic development, environmental protection, and social development.
